Key Items for Daily Inspection of Prefabricated Substations Mainly includes Appearance, operating parameters, sound and odor, temperature, grounding, and the surrounding environment Inspections in various aspects.
Visual Inspection
Inspect the enclosure for damage, deformation, corrosion, or leakage, and verify that the paint coating is intact.
Ensure that the container door is tightly closed, properly sealed, and the door lock is functioning correctly, and that the ventilation openings are unobstructed.
Verify that nameplates, warning labels, operating instructions, and other markings are clearly visible.
Operating Parameter Check
Observe whether the readings of the voltmeter, ammeter, power factor meter, and oil temperature gauge (for oil-immersed transformers) are within their rated ranges.
Check whether the indicator light is properly displaying the operating or fault status.
Sound and Odor Inspection
Under normal operating conditions, a uniform humming sound should be emitted. If sharp whistling, crackling discharge sounds, or mechanical vibration are heard, an internal fault may be present.
Check for a burning odor or any unusual chemical smell, which may indicate component overheating or transformer oil leakage.
Temperature Detection
Use an infrared thermometer to monitor the temperature of critical components such as circuit breakers, cable joints, busbar connection points, and heat sinks, in order to prevent overheating and associated accidents.
The top-oil temperature of an oil-immersed pad-mounted transformer should generally not exceed 85°C (when the ambient temperature is 40°C).
Grounding and Electrical Connection Inspection
Inspect the grounding system to ensure it is securely installed, and verify that the grounding resistance does not exceed 4 Ω.
Inspect cable joints for signs of discharge, overheating, discoloration, or loosening.
Environmental Inspection
Ensure that the area surrounding the pad-mounted substation is free of flammable materials, standing water, overgrown vegetation, and risks of small animals entering.
Inspect the fence for integrity, ensure there is no standing water in the accident oil pit, and verify that fire-stopping measures are properly implemented.
Enhanced Inspections During Special Weather Conditions
After a thunderstorm, inspect equipment for signs of discharge-induced burn damage.
During foggy or overcast and rainy weather, inspect the insulating porcelain bushings for discharge.
When there is a sudden change in temperature, inspect the lead wires for tightness, check for changes in the oil level, and look for cracks in the porcelain bushings.
